1. My composite door will not open

Composite doors are secured using a multipoint locking system that runs the full length of the door. Over time, these mechanisms can fail due to general wear and tear or excessive pressure on the handle during locking and unlocking.

If the handle pushes down but the door will not release or open, there is a strong chance the multipoint locking mechanism has failed.

2. My composite door will not lock

A composite door that will not lock properly is another very common issue I repair across the Isle of Axholme. In most cases, the problem will be either:

• A failed multipoint locking mechanism
• The door is moving out of alignment over time

A simple test is to try operating the lock while the door is open. If the handle lifts and locks correctly in the open position, the issue is likely due to alignment. If the mechanism still refuses to engage, the gearbox or locking system has probably failed.
